Two-jaw surgery (양악수술) recovery diary - anyone willing to share?

I have been recommended two-jaw surgery (bimaxillary osteotomy) to correct my facial asymmetry and underbite. This is one of the most major facial surgeries and I am honestly scared. I know Korean hospitals like JW, FACE DENTAL, and others specialize in this procedure. I would love to hear from anyone who has undergone two-jaw surgery in Korea. What was your recovery like week by week? How long until you could eat normally? Did you experience significant weight loss? When did the swelling become manageable? Any regrets? This will help me mentally prepare for what is ahead.

Two-jaw surgery (bimaxillary osteotomy) is one of the biggest facial surgeries, so your caution is healthy. A common recovery arc: the first 1–2 weeks involve significant swelling and a liquid/soft diet and limited jaw opening; weeks 3–4 you transition to soft foods and swelling becomes manageable; by 2–3 months you look largely normal, with fine settling and final bite stabilization over 6–12 months. Temporary numbness of the lower lip/chin is expected and usually recovers gradually. Some weight loss during the liquid-diet phase is common. Choose a hospital where this is a core specialty with orthodontic coordination, and confirm anesthesia and monitoring standards. Most patients with functional issues like underbite find it life-changing despite the hard recovery. This is general information — an in-person consultation with a board-certified specialist is the only way to get advice tailored to your anatomy and goals.
